Browsing bloggers’ bookshelves is a series of posts that my good friend Lauren has started where we swap pictures of our bookshelves and comment on what they have, what they’ve read and what we would recommend. You can find her post looking at my shelves here!
I would like to state now that having been to Lauren’s house, this is absolutely not all her bookshelves and I know for a fact that she hasn’t read a great deal of all of the books I love so *stern frown*.

ON MY TBR
Grace and Fury (Grace and Fury #1) by Tracy Banghart [GR | BUY] – I have an ARC of this which a friend sent me a few months ago, but I haven’t had time to get around to it yet.
Everless (Everless #1) by Sara Holland [GR | BUY] – I got this in Fairyloot back in 2017 and I just … have no drive to read it. I probably will at some point but I’m not rushing.
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns (Rise of the Empress #1) by Julie C. Dao [GR | BUY] – I’m pretty sure this was in my first ever Fairyloot box and yet it remains unread. I’ve heard very mixed reviews of this and would still like to get around to it but my TBR is ridiculous…
READ & REC
Everything written by V.E. Schwab [GR] – She’s such an autobuy for me and I will devour anything she writes. I would like to note however that Lauren hasn’t read Our Dark Duet nor A Conjuring of Light *stern frown*.
If you haven’t read Schwab, but would like to give her a try, she has a great tweet which recommends her books based on pop-culture you may enjoy.
The Folk of the Air trilogy by Holly Black [GR | BUY] – As with basically every other YA reader, I’m mad about this series and as you can tell by her huge collection, so is Lauren. For the first, and only time in this entire post, I congratulate Lauren for actually reading something I love π
Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo [GR | BUY] – Another series that Lauren hasn’t read much to my chagrin but it a huge favourite of mine. Heists, squad goals and the love of my life. Yes please.
NOT FOR ME
Aurora Rising (Aurora Cycle #1) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff [GR | BUY] – It’s not that wasn’t good, it was just a disappointment, especially after loving Illuminae Files as much as I did. I had high hopes for this but it fell flat. A solid 3.5-star read but probably my biggest disappointment of 2019 so far.

ON MY TBR
Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor [GR | BUY] – This was a gift from one of my best friends and on my list of Friend Rec books that I need to read in 2019. See my full list here.
READ & REC
Nevernight series by Jay Kristoff [GR | BUY] – I love this series so goddamn much and I know Lauren will to so I’m trying to make her read it ASAP. Mia Corvere is a stabby bisexual icon and love of my life.
NOT FOR ME
Books by Haruki Murakami [GR] – They’re just so huge and the writing is dense. They’re probably great and I’ll eat my words some day but right now, I don’t have time or energy.

ON MY TBR
The Gilded King (Sovereign #1) by Josie Jaffrey [GR | BUY] – I really enjoyed Josie’s Solis Invicti series and this is a spin off so I’d really like to get around to this. It’s all set around a future world where there are like vampires and zombies and a zombie vampire virus and it’s a bit mental but I loved it. I think I read all five in a week? I was also a huge fan of the enemies to lovers relationship.
READ & REC
The Bone Season septology by Samantha Shannon [GR | BUY] – I feel like I don’t really need to say much about how much I adore this series, this author and these characters. I also feel like you would understand my frustration at the fact that Lauren STILL HASN’T READ ANY OF THEM DESPITE OWNING A RARE UK ARC (not pictured).
A Girl Called Shameless (Izzy O’Neill #2) by Laura Steven [GR | BUY] – IZZY O’NEILL IS MY ICON. If you have read my blog, you probably know how much I adore both this and The Exact Opposite of Okay. Honestly, you have to pick up this duology if you haven’t.
NOT FOR ME
The Sin Eater’s Daughter series by Melinda Salisbury [GR | BUY] – I really like Melinda as a person the few times I’ve met her and enjoy following her on social media, but this book fell a little flat for me. I do have State of Sorrow though and I have it on good authority that I’ll enjoy it.

Are there any books you think I should try on Lauren’s shelves? What would you recommend?
